Nana Ama, London, Aug 2025, by Feruza Afewerki

I’m Nana Ama - a Ghanaian-British photographer, writer and creative from London.

I’m drawn to projects with themes on architecture, food, cultural exchange, identity, memory and archival practices.

What started out as an instinctive need to ask questions, has spiralled into a steady practice of writing about or collaborating with architects, artists and cultural practitioners on work that engages with themes of intersectionality, sustainability, nostalgia, community, cultural heritage and identity.

I’ve written articles both digitally and in-print for Wallpaper*, Architectural Digest ME, Dazed, and MANJU Journal, photographed for various publicly programmed events with Somerset House, Bow Arts, Barbican Centre, New Architecture Writers and co-produced creative projects with The Photographer’s Gallery London, Barbican Centre and more.

I also love languages, I speak English, Spanish, Italian fluently, some Twi and French, bringing a deeply communicative, empathetic and open mindset to the work I do.

Whether I’m behind the camera or interviewing someone for a story, I’m always searching for ways to make spaces and conversations in arts and culture feel more accessible, inclusive and expansive.
